April 2, 2026 : Reliance Animation Academy, an education arm of Reliance Animation Studios, in collaboration with Tenali Rama Animation and strategic business partners, has announced the development of an ambitious feature film titled “Ravana – The Lost Battle with Shri Ram.” The project will be produced through a pioneering student-led production model, offering animation students the rare opportunity to work on a real theatrical film as part of their learning journey.Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) is the key academic and creative mentor for the project. The film is targeted for Summer 2027 release and following its theatrical release, slated for Summer 2027, the film is expected to expand to television and digital streaming platforms.

The film aims to present a powerful interpretation of one of Indian epic’s most complex characters, Ravana, using a Hybrid AI + 3D animation production pipeline that combines modern technology with rich storytelling.

This initiative represents a unique collaboration between education and industry, where students will receive hands-on production experience while contributing to the creation of a feature-length feature film.

The Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) will partner on the project as a distinguished academic mentor, playing a pivotal role in shaping the students’ creative journey. As a culmination of this learning experience, FTII will conduct an intensive 5–7 day immersive workshop designed to bridge the gap between academic training and the practical realities of filmmaking. This workshop will act as a critical enabler, equipping students with the skills, perspective, and confidence required to transition into the film and animation industry.

MUMBAI : The first trial screening of filmmaker Sammir I Patel's highly anticipated thriller-comedy Sansani (Bachelorette Party Gone Wild) was held recently in Mumbai, and the response has been nothing short of spectacular. The film, which premiered for a select audience of film enthusiasts and critics, left everyone thoroughly entertained, with laughter, applause, and appreciation filling the room.

Overwhelmed by the love and positive feedback, director Sammir I Patel opened up about his journey, the challenges he faced, and the joy of finally presenting his film to the world.

Q1: How do you feel now that your film is finally ready and the first trial screening was such a great success?

Sammir I Patel: "It feels absolutely amazing. All the hard work has finally paid off. Honestly, it feels like my baby is finally out for the world to see. The love and appreciation from the audience at the screening has made every sleepless night worth it."

Q2: What were the challenges in making this film, and what kept you going through them?

Sammir I Patel: "There were many challenges. Being an independent filmmaker, it's never easy to mount a project, especially when you're working with newcomers and striving to maintain high creative standards. There were difficult moments—times when things didn't go as planned—but I had to keep pushing forward. I knew this story deserved to be told.

One area where we took extra time was the background score and sound design. We didn't rush it because we understood how crucial it is to elevate the film's mood—from comedy to thriller. Despite that, we finished the shoot by the end of September, and by the beginning of March, we had the first copy ready. That's remarkably fast—most films take at least a year in post-production. But we managed it without compromising on quality. The production value and creative output have both turned out well, and the response at the screening proves that."

From Ferozepur to Mumbai: The Journey of Shivam Sharma as 'Kallu'

Among the standout performers who earned special appreciation at the screening was Shivam Sharma, who plays the menacing yet unforgettable character of 'Kallu'—one-third of the film's hilarious gangster trio.

Hailing from Ferozepur, Punjab, Shivam moved to Mumbai in 2019 with dreams of making it in the entertainment industry. With a strong theatre background, he brought a raw, instinctive energy to his role.

Q1: How did you get the role of Kallu, which was so loved by the audience?

Shivam Sharma: "It was actually Vishal Dubey, who is also part of the cast, who asked me to audition for the role of Kallu. In the first audition, I wasn't selected. But I believed I could do justice to this character, so I requested Vishal to speak to Sammir Sir again. He did, and I was called back for a second audition. That time, I cracked it. I was fascinated by Kallu because he is so unpredictable. He is nothing like me in real life. Kallu actually cuts his own thumb and licks it—he's a hardcore criminal. Playing someone so raw and dangerous was an absolute thrill."

Q2: What preparation did you do to bring Kallu to life on screen?

Shivam Sharma: "I read the script about 25 to 30 times to get complete clarity on who Kallu was. I had several discussions with Sammir Sir about my inputs and what Kallu's look could be. Together, we decided Kallu would be bald, with a 'K' carved on his head—a menacing signature. We worked extensively on his body language and the way he speaks. It had to feel dangerous yet oddly entertaining. And when I finally saw the character come alive on screen at the trial screening, it was absolutely thrilling."

Mumbai is set to immerse itself in the rich traditions of Urdu literature, art, and music as the Maharashtra Urdu Sahitya Academy marks its golden jubilee with a grand celebration titled Bahar-e-Urdu. The three-day cultural extravaganza, organised by the Minority Department of Maharashtra, will be held at the iconic DOME SVP Stadium, Worli, on 6th, 7th and 8th October 2025.

A Festival of Words, Melody and Heritage

The event promises to be a confluence of Urdu’s timeless charm — from thought-provoking seminars, panel discussions, and storytelling sessions, to soulful renditions of ghazals, qawwali, and sufi music. Exhibition stalls will add to the cultural mosaic, showcasing works that celebrate Urdu’s literary and artistic journey.

Each day will bring a unique mix of performances:

Day One (6th October) opens with an exhibition and inaugural ceremony, followed by a stirring Qaumi Yakjehti Geet, an Urdu theatrical drama, and a celebrity Mushaira featuring acclaimed poets. The evening crescendo's into an awards distribution ceremony, a session with humourist Surendra Sharma, a panel on Filmon Mein Urdu with Sachin Pilgaonkar and Rumy Jafri and others, and an engaging Q&A session with Javed Akhtar and Rumy Jafri. The show will be hosted by Shekhar Suman and Ali Asgar, closing with a spirited Sufi/Qawwali night led by the legendary Sabri Brothers.

Day Two (7th October) continues the celebration with a Mushaira by young poets, an academic seminar on the Urdu language, a vibrant fashion show, and a dastangoi performance. The evening highlights include a soulful Sufi performance by Jhelum Singh, alongside the distribution of 156 awards across various categories. The day will be hosted by Priya Malik and Imtiyaz Khaleel.

Day Three (8th October) is marked by musical brilliance, featuring performances of sufi music, ghazals, and qawwali. Highlights include Mushairas, theatrical performances, and a stirring qawwali performance by Shabab Sabri. The finale will be hosted by Shekhar Suman, culminating in a grand finale by none other than Padma Shri Anup Jalota, whose ghazals have mesmerised audiences worldwide.

Urdu has always been more than a language — it is a bridge of cultures, emotions, and shared heritage. For fifty years, the Maharashtra Urdu Sahitya Academy has nurtured this legacy, encouraging poets, writers, artists, and performers to carry forward the flame. After Popatlal, the Rupa Ratan family is the next to be introduced as a household in Gokuldham Society. Making their entry in a very traditional way, the family will be seen dressed in vibrant Rajasthani clothes, arriving on beautifully decorated camels, bringing with them a glimpse of their culture and heritage. This colourful entry will set the tone for how their presence adds new shades of warmth and festivity to Gokuldham Society. Asit Kumarr Modi will also appear in the episode and introduce Rupa Ratan ka chota sa parivar to the society members, making the moment even more special.

Ratan Binjola, a saree shop owner from Jaipur, will be played by Kuldeep Gor, while his wife Rupa Baditop, portrayed by Dharti Bhatt, will be seen as a homemaker who is also an influencer and content creator. Their children, Veer (Akshaan Sehrawat) and Bansari (Maahi Bhadra), will be the new kids in the society after Tapu Sena—bringing innocence, playfulness, and cheer that will add to the fun dynamics of the neighborhood.

Introducing a family at this stage deepens the canvas of Gokuldham. Known for celebrating diversity and unity, the society now welcomes Rupa Ratan family, offering audiences another slice of Indian culture in the classic TMKOC style—with humor, heart, and everyday relatability. Rather than changing the ethos of the show, their arrival will blend seamlessly with it, adding more dimensions to storytelling.

Kuldeep Gor is a well-recognized name in Gujarati cinema, television, and theatre, with notable performances in films such as Jessu Jordaar and Big Bull. On television, he has been appreciated for his roles in Kuch Reet Jagat Ki Aisi Hain and Maharashtra Chi Hasya Jatra.

The concept of Mahayogi is not bound to one person—it is the eternal divine spark hidden in every human soul. It is the voice that whispers within us: Awaken. Remember who you truly are. It is the realization that we are not separate rivers flowing alone—we are all drops of the same ocean.

My film, "Mahayogi – Ek Path Ekta Ka", was born as a sacred offering to this truth. It carries a message that can heal wounds and dissolve borders—not only the borders between nations, but the invisible ones within hearts. Yet, despite its purity of purpose, it faced heavy trials. The censor board demanded 21 cuts, removing precious moments that carried the essence of its message. Even after surrendering to these demands, the film has not been released properly, and for the last three months we have been waiting for the Hindi version of Mahayogi – Ek Path Ekta Ka.

I cannot understand why the censor board continues to create hurdles in issuing a certificate for a film that is full of truth, peace, love, and oneness.

Through my various projects, including the film "Mahayogi – Ek Path Ekta Ka", the web series "Tum Hee Shiv Ho", and the book "Mahayogi – Your Conscience", I aim to inspire a global movement towards peace, love, and oneness. These works are not mere creative endeavors, but divine tools for transformation. After years of hard work and dedication, I’m proud to see these projects take shape. My vision is to spread the message of oneness, love, and peace everywhere. I have put my heart and soul into raising the consciousness of humanity, and I believe that Mahayogi is a divine call within everyone—a call to awaken to our true nature and to recognize that we are all connected.

My heart now implores for support—from politicians, celebrities, spiritual leaders, and every awakened soul in India who believes that peace, love, and oneness are the true foundation of this sacred land. Let us raise the consciousness of each soul and heal the world together.

Mahayogi is a divine call. I, the soul of Rajan, have picked it up—not for myself, but for all of you. I request each one of you to watch this soulful act when it comes to you, and to experience an inner awakening within yourself.

This launch marks a significant milestone in Gayatri’s illustrious career, showcasing her entry as a composer into the world of ghazals after years of notable work across classical, devotional, and playback genres.

Mumbai’s buzzing celeb corridors got more than just star sightings this week—The White Tiger actor Adarsh Gourav was spotted outside Andheri café holding what looked like 10s of smartphones. Mini Films is thrilled to announce the completion of the major schedule for Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan (AKG), a musical love story starring Vikrant Massey and Shanaya Kapoor. The film has been generating significant buzz from the start, as it marks Vikrant's major project following 12th Fail and will be Shanaya Kapoor's grand debut.

The calendar "Rise and Shine in Arunachal Pradesh" is a heartfelt tribute to the alluring beauty of Arunachal Pradesh with the graceful exuberance of Femina Miss India winners through a visual story captured in this calendar, featuring 13 exquisite images. Each month showcases Arunachal's scenic topography and landscape – its majestic mountains, lush valleys, and serene rivers – intensified by the elegance of Miss India queens. "Rise" symbolises Arunachal's periodic embrace of the sun, while "Shine" underscores the glowing achievements of Femina Miss India winners. Together, "Rise and Shine" is a tribute to Arunachal's rich treasury of beauty, culture, and India's luminous and promising future.

The event commenced with ceremonial lamp lighting, signifying an auspicious start to the occasion, followed by a welcome speech by the Secretary, Department of Tourism, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh, Shri Ranphoa Ngowa. The results are made available in the next few days, and depending on the results further course of treatment is recommended.

Excessive snoring is one of the symptoms of Sleep Apnea, which could be due to various reasons - deviated nasal septum, tonsil adenoids (growth in the tonsils), being overweight and fatty around the neck (this causes the neck to become small and the respiratory passages to become narrow), narrow jaw, etc. A problem with deviated nasal septum and tonsil adenoids could be treated with surgery. For those overweight around the neck region, which is the case for a majority of the population, CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) therapy is recommended. A CPAP machine generates pressurized air that is carried by a tube to a mask on the person’s face, and this steady flow of air holds the airway open during sleep to prevent breathing disruptions.

Speaking of this, Dr. Ramasubramaniam K., Consultant Pulmonologist, said that every day they diagnose and treat several cases of snoring and sleep apnea, and he went on to narrate two cases that he recently handled: “A young man aged 32, not obese, a normal fit person, approached us with a complaint of severe snoring. He was diagnosed with severe OSA by sleep study and further evaluations revealed problems involving a deviated nasal septum and tonsils. He was recommended a surgery to correct the issues and he is now able to sleep well and actively function the next day.

Another patient was a man aged 60+, an obese person, with complaints of hypertension and diabetes, and his wife complained of his severe snoring. He was diagnosed with severe OSA, however further evaluations did not reveal any aberrations, but only that he was overweight with a fleshy mass around the neck region leading to airways compression. He was given CPAP therapy for two weeks, at the end of which he was overjoyed that he had not had a real sleep like this in a long time, and said that he felt a great sense of relief! He bought the CPAP machine right away and started using it every day.”

He also said that initially people hesitate to use the machine because they are scared, or wonder if they can tolerate it, or what others will think of them. It takes a few days for them to get used to it, but once they experience the relief after using it regularly, they regard it like a real boon!

Chennai, 23rd  December  2024 : Kauvery Hospital Vadapalani, a leading healthcare institution in Chennai, has treated an exceptionally rare case tumor in the abnormal kidney in lower abdomen tumor and  bladder tumor in an 85-year-old diabetic patient. The case, which involved complex urological conditions, marks a significant achievement in the hospital’s advanced medical capabilities, especially in the field of minimally invasive surgery. The treatment was led by Dr. Aarthy P, Consultant Urologist and Robotic Surgeon, known for her expertise in complex urological conditions.

The patient, an 85-year-old male with a longstanding history of diabetes, was referred to Kauvery Hospital after presenting with hematuria (blood in the urine) and an abnormal located kidney identified in an ultrasound performed at another hospital. The initial diagnosis suspected an infection in the right kidney, but further investigation revealed a far more complex condition.

At Kauvery Hospital, a comprehensive series of diagnostic tests were carried out, including advanced imaging and endoscopy. These revealed not only a bladder tumor but also a tumor in an ectopic pelvic kidney – a kidney located abnormally in the lower abdomen rather than the upper abdomen where the kidney is usually situated. This discovery led to the diagnosis of a of urothelial carcinoma both in the kidney and bladder  , a cancer that originates in the lining of the urinary tract, both in the kidney and bladder.

"This is an extraordinarily rare condition," said Dr. Aarthy P., Consultant Urologist and Robotic Surgeon. "To find urothelial tumor inside ectopic kidney at the same time is something we rarely encounter in clinical practice. The condition had only been reported in a handful of cases worldwide, and in India, there have been only 3-4 such instances.”

Given the complexity of the case, the team opted for a minimally invasive approach to surgery, aiming to reduce the patient’s post-operative pain, speed up recovery, and ensure the best possible outcomes. The team performed a Endoscopy Removal of Bladder tumor (TURBT) laparoscopic right nephrouretercetomy (removal of the kidney & Ureter ) with lymph node dissection, using only three small incisions of approximately 1 cm each. This technique, known as laparoscopic surgery, avoids large incisions and muscle cutting, significantly reducing the trauma to the body.

This laparoscopic approach allowed us to remove the kidney and the tumor with minimal disruption to the surrounding tissue. The patient’s recovery was swift and remarkably comfortable. He experienced very little pain post-surgery and was able to return to his daily activities sooner than we expected. In addition to the nephrectomy, the patient also received intravesical therapy, a treatment where medication is administered directly into the bladder, to prevent the recurrence of the bladder tumor. The surgical procedure and subsequent treatments were carried out with the utmost precision, with the aim of offering the best chance for long-term survival.

Following the surgery, the patient experienced a smooth recovery, although his pre-existing diabetes led to some complications in the form of diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), a serious condition that can develop in people with uncontrolled diabetes. However, with the swift intervention of the medical team, the patient’s DKA was successfully managed, and he made a full recovery.

Postoperative pathology confirmed that the tumors were high-grade, indicating a more aggressive form of cancer. As a result, the patient will require chemotherapy in the near future to reduce the risk of recurrence and improve his long-term prognosis.

Mumbai : A 34-year old woman from Bhandup, a suburb in Mumbai, was diagnosed with a rare form of a TB-related infection after complaining of fever, pain and swelling in front of the left ear. The patient was referred to Dr. Sheetal Radia, ENT and Head and Neck cancer surgeon at Mulund's Apex Hospital. Under Dr. Radia's care the patient underwent MRI of the brain ,face and orbital region along with CT scan and pus culture tests. Until test reports and proper diagnosis supportive treatments were given in the form of oral antibiotics initially and later IV antibiotics. This preauricular abscess then spread very fast in just 1 day to all over the face and eye leading to facial cellulitis and periorbital abscess. Pus culture of preauricular abscess suggested Acid fast Bacilli (non-tuberculous bacilli) .

Dr Sheetal Radia successfully conducted a surgery on the pre auricular abscess, wherein drainage of abscess and Debridement was done Pus samples were then sent for laboratory analysis. Importantly, the timely surgery by Dr. Radia provided a great sense of relief to the patient and her family as it protected her left eye from getting damaged. The patient was referred to a physician Dr. Hardik Thakkar started a non-TB regimen, while results were awaited. Later the pus culture of the preauricular abscess suggested Acid Fast Bacilli (non tuberculous bacilli). It confirmed what the doctors suspected it to be, atypical mycobacteria or non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM), a rare bacterial infection from the TB family. It is possibly the first case of such infection detected in India and one of the few in Asia. The location warranted careful management and the patient responded well to the medication and treatment. On discharge the patient's vision and eye movements were intact, quite remarkable considering the seriousness of the issue. Over a period of time the peri auricular swelling as well as the wound healed. Taking regular medication for NTM will help the patient recover faster and lead a better quality of life. The uniqueness of the case, its symptoms, causes and line of treatment should be well documented and published for public good. It is a case study worth publishing in reputed medical journals. “My art seeks to reveal the clear divide between a woman’s societal image and her suppressed reality,” Suhani explains. “It’s about giving voice to the struggles endured in silence and the fight for autonomy.”

Her artistic journey is deeply influenced by her 13-year background in classical Kathak dance. This training has shaped her understanding of rhythm and colour, infusing her artwork with a unique vibrancy and depth. “Dance has taught me to see the world through a different lens,” she reflects. “It’s this perspective that I bring to my creations.”

In a commendable move, all proceeds from the exhibition, including sales from Suhani’s sustainable fabric jewellery brand ‘Re #Hash by Suhani’, will be donated to the Shakti Foundation. This initiative aligns with her vision of art as a medium for social impact.

The exhibition has garnered attention from notable figures, including Miss Bansuri Swaraj, a member of parliament, Lok Sabha New Delhi.
