For Phougat, Deepika is all about a timeless kind of elegance. "Whether it's a red carpet look or minimal airport style, she embodies structured simplicity, confidence, and global sophistication," she said. What makes the actress stand out, in her view, is how easy it all looks. Even in heavy couture, Deepika never seems to be trying. As Phougat put it, "she doesn't wear the outfit, she becomes it."

Sonam sits at the other end of the spectrum. Where Deepika keeps things clean, Sonam takes risks. "She treats fashion like art," Phougat said, praising the actress for playing fearlessly with silhouette, drama and cultural fusion. It's that willingness to push that has helped bring Indian couture into global fashion conversations, and to do it in a distinctly editorial way.

The common thread, she believes, is intention. Neither actress dresses by accident. "Their style choices feel deliberate, not accidental; there is storytelling in what they wear," she said.

Phougat also had specific advice for both. She'd like to see Deepika move further into structured couture with softer, spiritual notes — flowing drapes set against sharper, architectural shapes. Handwoven Indian textiles cut in modern global silhouettes would suit her, Phougat suggested, especially in muted jewel tones and monochrome palettes that let the actress shine rather than fight her look.

For Sonam, the note is to keep experimenting but anchor it in something deeper. Phougat would pair more heritage craft with avant-garde design — think Banarasi, zardozi or temple jewellery elements reworked into futuristic forms. That mix, she said, could take Sonam's already strong editorial identity somewhere "even more iconic and timeless."

In the end, the designer sees the two as opposite poles of the same story. One leans on elegance, the other on expression. "Together they define the modern face of Indian style on the global stage," she said.

Speaking about what inspired him to enter the industry, he said, “I was always inclined towards the beauty and wellness industry. However, my first break was through the event management  company where I used to manage talent for some events and then I got into Hotel Sahara Star and that was my break into the beauty industry. What inspires me is to recreate the natural beauty, and help people explore the natural beauty within.”

“From a front office executive I was promoted into Wellness department. I was heading the salon, spa and gym, and I think from there until today it has been a journey of of learning and hard work and discipline put together to which today I stand as a co-founder for two brands, where I am the CEO as well,” he added.

One of the major turning points in his professional journey came when he met celebrity hairstylist Florian Hurel over a decade ago. Their collaboration eventually led to the expansion of multiple ventures together. Recalling the beginning of that association, he said, “I met Florian 12 years ago, where I was a Business Manager and he was the creative artistic Director of the brand. The mantra was to be disciplined and consistent in everything we do. And we grew from two salons to four, then we ventured into opening an artist management company in 2019 followed by a fitness centre Flofitbox in 2020, then The Salon and spa business in 2023, and the product business in year 2024.”

Today, Florian Hurel Hair Couture and Spa has expanded significantly, and Zarir takes immense pride not just in the business growth but also in the opportunities the brand creates for people working within the industry. He said, “I do feel proud of being a part of such a brand which is not only towards making revenues but actually giving the power to dream and explore and unleash the potential in this industry. The sky is the limit is the right phrase for this industry.”

Currently serving as the CEO and co-founder of the brand, he continues to oversee operations while also representing the company at various public platforms and industry events. He said, “My current designation is as the CEO and co-founder of the brand, which means the entire operations execution is on my shoulders representing the brand and being the brand face at many public forums as well as events is the part of my job.”

Talking about what truly sets Florian Hurel Hair Couture and Spa apart from others, he emphasized both the quality of services and the brand philosophy. “Well, the USP of the services would be the Korean hair spa. Located in Devbhumi Dwarka district, roughly 12 kilometers from the sacred city of Dwarka, Shivrajpur received Blue Flag certification in 2020 from the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), becoming the first beach in Gujarat—and one of very few in India—to meet the program’s 33 demanding criteria. These cover water quality testing, environmental management, public safety services, accessibility features, and ongoing ecological monitoring. The certification must be renewed annually, ensuring sustained performance.

The visiting titleholders experienced a beach that balances natural tranquility with regulated adventure. The calm, clear seabed supports safe swimming and snorkeling, while clearly marked zones allow jet skiing, scuba diving, and other water-based activities to proceed under supervision. Lifeguard stations, emergency response systems, and environmental signage contribute to an environment where thrill and responsibility coexist. A major highlight was the International Reinvent Northeast Showcase, which began with the Bodoland Handloom segment presented by Anita Daimari & Laijou Brahma, featuring authentic Bodo weaves and traditional motifs honoring Bodoland’s textile legacy. The Meghalaya Tourism Grand Showcase, supported by Meghalaya Tourism, opened with a live performance by SKUBO Band, led by Peter from Garo Hills, followed by Garo Handloom creations by Lakme Marak and her team Ernieford and Khasi & Jaintia Eri Silk designs by Iaishah Rymbai (Eri Weave), blending traditional craftsmanship with modern aesthetics. The segment reached its pinnacle with Annu Marbaniang, International Fitness Icon, as the showstopper, leaving the audience enthralled with her poise and elegance.

The event also marked the launch of the International Delhi Fashion Awards (IDFA) to honor excellence in fashion and creative industries. Iaishah Rymbai and Lakme Marak were recognized as Best Handloom Designers from Meghalaya, while Miss Sabrella Marak received a Special Contribution Award for her efforts in promoting Meghalaya’s creative talent.

The Pre-Finale by Celebrity Designer Ashfaque Ahmad featured luxurious couture gowns, followed by the Grand Finale by NIFT Foundation for Design Innovation – Bhasha Bharat, showcasing the exquisite Bhagalpur Silk Sarees. Mrs. Universe Oceania 2025, Archana Niranjan, dazzled as the official grand finale showstopper, earning a standing ovation for the seamless blend of cultural depth and high fashion.

Harshit Dhingaun highlighted the collective efforts behind promoting Indian handlooms, empowering artisans, supporting sustainable fashion, and strengthening India’s creative economy under the vision of Viksit Bharat. He reaffirmed Delhi Fashion Week’s alignment with Vocal for Local, Atmanirbhar Bharat, Skill India, and Digital India missions.

The event marked 10 years of planning and 5 years of waiting to secure the trademark registration of Delhi Fashion Week, culminating in the realization of a long-held vision.

Delhi Fashion Week – Season 2 has been announced for March 2026, with registrations opening on 18 December 2025 for designers, models, artisans, brands, institutions, and creative professionals. Crafted entirely using traditional handwork on Khadi tissue, the lehenga featured India’s national bird — the peacock — highlighted with silver ghungroos and intricate detailing. The total cost of creating the garment reportedly reached ₹4 lakh, a testament to its craftsmanship and cultural value.

What makes the selection even more exceptional is that Cannes typically favors western gown formats for its red carpet events. But Dr. Sharma’s design broke conventions — it impressed the selection committee so much that they lifted the gown-only requirement, allowing her to retain the bridal form and merely adapt it to a gown silhouette.

Unfortunately, as the festival approached in mid-May, rising tensions between India and Pakistan led to canceled flights from Jodhpur and widespread logistical issues. With her travel plans disrupted, Dr. Sharma missed the opportunity to physically attend the Cannes Film Festival, which ran from May 13 to 24.

Despite this setback, Dr. Sharma has already received invitations to both the next edition of Cannes and the prestigious Paris Fashion Show, reaffirming the industry’s recognition of her talent and artistry. She underwent a rigorous five-round selection process that included video interviews and detailed dress sketches, with final confirmation arriving in February 2025.

Dr. Sharma remains optimistic, stating that her mission continues beyond the red carpet. Rohit acknowledges the importance of ambitions and goals but believes they should be rooted in practicality. “Ambitions are important, but they need to be redefined with reality checks,” he explained. “If your habits don’t change, you won’t have a new year. Patients requiring sleep study need to be admitted to the lab and will stay overnight. They normally arrive around 8 pm, and after checking in they will be asked to lie down on their bed and sensors are attached at various places on their body to monitor the brain, heart and respiratory system. They then wake up in the morning and after the sensors have been disconnected they leave. The results are made available in the next few days, and depending on the results further course of treatment is recommended.

Excessive snoring is one of the symptoms of Sleep Apnea, which could be due to various reasons - deviated nasal septum, tonsil adenoids (growth in the tonsils), being overweight and fatty around the neck (this causes the neck to become small and the respiratory passages to become narrow), narrow jaw, etc. A problem with deviated nasal septum and tonsil adenoids could be treated with surgery. For those overweight around the neck region, which is the case for a majority of the population, CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) therapy is recommended. A CPAP machine generates pressurized air that is carried by a tube to a mask on the person’s face, and this steady flow of air holds the airway open during sleep to prevent breathing disruptions.

Speaking of this, Dr. Ramasubramaniam K., Consultant Pulmonologist, said that every day they diagnose and treat several cases of snoring and sleep apnea, and he went on to narrate two cases that he recently handled: “A young man aged 32, not obese, a normal fit person, approached us with a complaint of severe snoring. He was diagnosed with severe OSA by sleep study and further evaluations revealed problems involving a deviated nasal septum and tonsils. He was recommended a surgery to correct the issues and he is now able to sleep well and actively function the next day.

Another patient was a man aged 60+, an obese person, with complaints of hypertension and diabetes, and his wife complained of his severe snoring. He was diagnosed with severe OSA, however further evaluations did not reveal any aberrations, but only that he was overweight with a fleshy mass around the neck region leading to airways compression. He was given CPAP therapy for two weeks, at the end of which he was overjoyed that he had not had a real sleep like this in a long time, and said that he felt a great sense of relief! He bought the CPAP machine right away and started using it every day.”

He also said that initially people hesitate to use the machine because they are scared, or wonder if they can tolerate it, or what others will think of them. It takes a few days for them to get used to it, but once they experience the relief after using it regularly, they regard it like a real boon!

Chennai, 23rd  December  2024 : Kauvery Hospital Vadapalani, a leading healthcare institution in Chennai, has treated an exceptionally rare case tumor in the abnormal kidney in lower abdomen tumor and  bladder tumor in an 85-year-old diabetic patient. The case, which involved complex urological conditions, marks a significant achievement in the hospital’s advanced medical capabilities, especially in the field of minimally invasive surgery. The treatment was led by Dr. Aarthy P, Consultant Urologist and Robotic Surgeon, known for her expertise in complex urological conditions.

The patient, an 85-year-old male with a longstanding history of diabetes, was referred to Kauvery Hospital after presenting with hematuria (blood in the urine) and an abnormal located kidney identified in an ultrasound performed at another hospital. The initial diagnosis suspected an infection in the right kidney, but further investigation revealed a far more complex condition.

At Kauvery Hospital, a comprehensive series of diagnostic tests were carried out, including advanced imaging and endoscopy. These revealed not only a bladder tumor but also a tumor in an ectopic pelvic kidney – a kidney located abnormally in the lower abdomen rather than the upper abdomen where the kidney is usually situated. This discovery led to the diagnosis of a of urothelial carcinoma both in the kidney and bladder  , a cancer that originates in the lining of the urinary tract, both in the kidney and bladder.

"This is an extraordinarily rare condition," said Dr. Aarthy P., Consultant Urologist and Robotic Surgeon. "To find urothelial tumor inside ectopic kidney at the same time is something we rarely encounter in clinical practice. The condition had only been reported in a handful of cases worldwide, and in India, there have been only 3-4 such instances.”

Given the complexity of the case, the team opted for a minimally invasive approach to surgery, aiming to reduce the patient’s post-operative pain, speed up recovery, and ensure the best possible outcomes. The team performed a Endoscopy Removal of Bladder tumor (TURBT) laparoscopic right nephrouretercetomy (removal of the kidney & Ureter ) with lymph node dissection, using only three small incisions of approximately 1 cm each. This technique, known as laparoscopic surgery, avoids large incisions and muscle cutting, significantly reducing the trauma to the body.

This laparoscopic approach allowed us to remove the kidney and the tumor with minimal disruption to the surrounding tissue. The patient’s recovery was swift and remarkably comfortable. He experienced very little pain post-surgery and was able to return to his daily activities sooner than we expected. In addition to the nephrectomy, the patient also received intravesical therapy, a treatment where medication is administered directly into the bladder, to prevent the recurrence of the bladder tumor. The surgical procedure and subsequent treatments were carried out with the utmost precision, with the aim of offering the best chance for long-term survival.

Following the surgery, the patient experienced a smooth recovery, although his pre-existing diabetes led to some complications in the form of diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), a serious condition that can develop in people with uncontrolled diabetes. However, with the swift intervention of the medical team, the patient’s DKA was successfully managed, and he made a full recovery.

Postoperative pathology confirmed that the tumors were high-grade, indicating a more aggressive form of cancer. As a result, the patient will require chemotherapy in the near future to reduce the risk of recurrence and improve his long-term prognosis.

With weddings becoming more extravagant every year, actress Ssujata Mehta, says that people need to focus on making the marriage work, rather than only having a lavish wedding. The actress, who has been part of movies like Pratighaat, Yateem, Pratigyabadh, Gunahon Ka Devta, Hum Sab Chor Hain, 3 Deewarein, and Chitkar (Gujarati), adds that people must only celebrate after their marriage has last for at least five years. “I love celebrations but my idea of celebrating marriages in the big way is to celebrate after five years of marriage. Have a sweet and simple wedding and if your marriage works for five years then celebrate after that,” she says. 

She adds, “In recent years, I have noticed that many marriages don’t last. In the past, marriages tended to endure, whether the partners got along or not. Mumbai : A 34-year old woman from Bhandup, a suburb in Mumbai, was diagnosed with a rare form of a TB-related infection after complaining of fever, pain and swelling in front of the left ear. The patient was referred to Dr. Sheetal Radia, ENT and Head and Neck cancer surgeon at Mulund's Apex Hospital. Under Dr. Radia's care the patient underwent MRI of the brain ,face and orbital region along with CT scan and pus culture tests. Until test reports and proper diagnosis supportive treatments were given in the form of oral antibiotics initially and later IV antibiotics. This preauricular abscess then spread very fast in just 1 day to all over the face and eye leading to facial cellulitis and periorbital abscess. Pus culture of preauricular abscess suggested Acid fast Bacilli (non-tuberculous bacilli) .

Dr Sheetal Radia successfully conducted a surgery on the pre auricular abscess, wherein drainage of abscess and Debridement was done Pus samples were then sent for laboratory analysis. Importantly, the timely surgery by Dr. Radia provided a great sense of relief to the patient and her family as it protected her left eye from getting damaged. The patient was referred to a physician Dr. Hardik Thakkar started a non-TB regimen, while results were awaited. Later the pus culture of the preauricular abscess suggested Acid Fast Bacilli (non tuberculous bacilli). It confirmed what the doctors suspected it to be, atypical mycobacteria or non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM), a rare bacterial infection from the TB family. It is possibly the first case of such infection detected in India and one of the few in Asia. The location warranted careful management and the patient responded well to the medication and treatment. On discharge the patient's vision and eye movements were intact, quite remarkable considering the seriousness of the issue. Over a period of time the peri auricular swelling as well as the wound healed. Taking regular medication for NTM will help the patient recover faster and lead a better quality of life. The uniqueness of the case, its symptoms, causes and line of treatment should be well documented and published for public good. It is a case study worth publishing in reputed medical journals. The exhibition explores the paradoxical treatment of women in society – they are regarded as goddesses but are constrained by norms. “My art seeks to reveal the clear divide between a woman’s societal image and her suppressed reality,” Suhani explains. “It’s about giving voice to the struggles endured in silence and the fight for autonomy.”

Her artistic journey is deeply influenced by her 13-year background in classical Kathak dance. This training has shaped her understanding of rhythm and colour, infusing her artwork with a unique vibrancy and depth. “Dance has taught me to see the world through a different lens,” she reflects. “It’s this perspective that I bring to my creations.”

In a commendable move, all proceeds from the exhibition, including sales from Suhani’s sustainable fabric jewellery brand ‘Re #Hash by Suhani’, will be donated to the Shakti Foundation. This initiative aligns with her vision of art as a medium for social impact.

The exhibition has garnered attention from notable figures, including Miss Bansuri Swaraj, a member of parliament, Lok Sabha New Delhi. In a message of support, Swaraj stated, “Ms. Suhani Ahuja’s exhibition beautifully captures the strength, struggles, and indomitable spirit of women through art. Max60 Caribbean League 2024: A New Era of Cricket

The inaugural season of the Max60 Caribbean League kicked off on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at the Jimmy Powell Oval Cricket Stadium in George Town, Grand Cayman. Organized by the Cayman Islands Cricket Association (CICA), this high-energy T10 tournament runs until August 25, 2024, featuring five teams: New York Strikers, Caribbean Giants, Boca Raton Trailblazers, Grand Cayman Jaguars, and Miami Lions. With 25 matches packed into one week, the top four teams will advance to the knockout rounds, culminating to the exciting final on August 25, 2024.

Grand Cayman Jaguars: A Powerhouse Lineup

The Grand Cayman Jaguars, one of the most anticipated teams in the league, features a star-studded roster with international cricketing talents like former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa, English batsman Alex Hales, Irish pacer Josh Little, and Nepal’s top cricketer, Dipendra Singh Airee. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in the industry, as it's the first time an actress, after achieving immense success, has teamed up with an NGO to create a powerful narrative that embodies the essence of Shringaar, Bhakti, Shakti, and Stree Tatv.

The World of Stree stands out not only for its powerful message but also for its innovative approach—this is the first time in the industry that a choreographer will share the stage with an actress, performing live to showcase the multifaceted strength of women. This unique collaboration between Amruta Khanvilkar and skilled dancer Ashish Patil promises a mesmerizing blend of classical, semi-classical music, and dance, creating a 90-minute spectacle that will tour various theaters.

The inaugural performance is scheduled for August 24 at Tata Theatre, NCPA. Amruta, known for her enchanting performances, is thrilled to bring this dream to life, offering the audience a new perspective on her artistic talents.

Speaking about World of Stree, Amruta Khanvilkar shared, "Dance is a deeply personal form of expression for me, and I am overjoyed to present this unique art piece that fuses dance, music, and drama. Sixteen female and nine male models strutted down the runway, bringing to life the unique visions of the student designers. The show highlighted traditional arts like the famous blue pottery of Jaipur and the intricate chikankari embroidery of Lucknow, seamlessly integrated into modern designs.

Among the standout collections was 'Bluekari,' a fusion of blue pottery and chikankari. This collection, designed by Himanshi Sharma, Somya Agarwal, and Sunaina Shekhawat, masterfully blended the timeless elegance of these crafts with the dynamic energy of street style fashion. 'Bluekari' encapsulated the rich cultural heritage of India, telling a story of craftsmanship and tradition reimagined for the contemporary urban dweller. The silhouettes incorporated elements from both crafts, creating ensembles that were both cohesive and visually striking.

The students' creativity shone through other themed sequences such as Zulu Art, Queen’s Luster, Cluster Cosmos, Primordial Princess, The Unsung Warrior, Kokhloma, Threads of Tradition, Decode the Red, Bedlah, and Y2K Bazaar. Each theme showcased a unique blend of colors, textures, and designs, reflecting the students' deep understanding and appreciation of fashion as an art form.

The models' stunning transformations were courtesy of Kajal Bansal and her team from Kajal Makeup Artistry. Their skillful makeovers complemented the students' designs, enhancing the overall impact of the show. Special guests, fashion designers Padmaraj Keshri and Prashant Shivam, graced the event, adding to its prestige. The choreography, orchestrated by Shrikant Sharma and Isha Sharma, ensured a seamless and captivating flow throughout the evening.

The Ellenites Showcase was not just a fashion show but a celebration of creativity and innovation. The applause and admiration from the audience were a testament to the hard work and dedication of the students, making the event a resounding success. As the curtain fell, it was clear that the future of fashion is bright with the emerging talents from Ellen College of Design.
