Terrorism as a theme is familiar, but Bihu Attack attempts to differentiate itself by rooting the narrative in Assam’s cultural identity. Director Suzad Iqbal Khan approaches the subject with restraint, focusing on narrative seriousness rather than cinematic flamboyance.
Story
Raj Kunwar (Dev Menaria), a court-martial officer and single father, believes that peace cannot be achieved through force alone. His principles are challenged when intelligence agencies uncover a terror plot targeting the Bihu festival and a visiting Defence Minister.
As the operation unfolds, Raj collaborates with the IB Chief (Arbaaz Khan) and security forces to prevent the impending disaster. The story unfolds methodically, with the climax serving as the film’s primary highlight.
Performances
Dev Menaria delivers a mature performance, balancing duty and emotion. Arbaaz Khan’s portrayal adds authority, while Daisy Shah’s role remains limited. Supporting actors bring sincerity, though character depth remains uneven.
Direction and Technical Aspects
The film maintains a realistic visual language. Pacing issues surface intermittently, but the controlled background score and minimal music suit the narrative’s seriousness.
Final Verdict
Bihu Attack is a thoughtful attempt that values message over mass appeal. Despite its shortcomings, the film stands as an example of risk-taking cinema—one that exists because producer Prabir Kanta Saha had the courage to support such a subject.
