Actor Sshrey Pareek is all set to take an exciting step forward in his career as he makes his Bollywood debut with Oye Chill Maar. Having already been part of television and worked across approximately 10 shows, Sshrey says his journey so far has allowed him to explore different shades as an actor. His last television project was Jhanak, while he holds a special place in his heart for Dil Ki Baatein Dil Hi Jaane.

“One of the best things about my career is that I haven’t played the same character repeatedly. I have done approximately 10 shows and honestly, all of them are my favourites in their own way. But if I have to name one, Dil Ki Baatein Dil Hi Jaane will always be very special to me,” shares Sshrey.

Talking about Oye Chill Maar, Sshrey reveals that his character is far more layered than what one may initially expect. He plays a mysterious man carrying emotional baggage from his past, while also exploring different dimensions through romance, friendship and action. “My role in Oye Chill Maar is very layered. He is a mysterious guy who is dealing with past trauma and has issues with his father. At the same time, he is a lover boy and a friend who can go to any extent for the people he loves. He also has a dark side of his own, which makes him mysterious because nobody really knows who he actually is,” he says.

For Sshrey, the film's biggest strength lies in its ability to bring together different genres while retaining a sense of rawness. “The USP of the project is its rawness. It is entertaining, thrilling and romantic, and it is also a power-packed film with an outstanding storyline. There is also a glimpse of a social message around social media usage. We have left it for the audience to decide whether we are using social media correctly or not,” he explains.

Interestingly, acting wasn't Sshrey’s only passion. Before pursuing acting, he trained with Shiamak Davar's company and worked with them for a considerable period. Had he not become an actor, choreography would have been his natural choice. “If I wasn't an actor, I would have been a choreographer. I was trained by Shiamak Davar's company and worked with them for a long time. I always had this dream of seeing myself as an actor-dancer. People have seen me as an actor because I have been working in the industry for a long time, but in this film, they will also get to see my dancing,” says Sshrey.

The Bollywood debut is particularly meaningful for Sshrey because the film has given him the opportunity to explore multiple facets of his craft.
“This is extremely special for me. I have done everything in this film that an actor wants to do. There is romance, action, comedy, intensity and dancing, what more could I ask for? Getting a film is one thing, but getting a film as a lead where the story is majorly centred around you is a wish for every actor. I have got that opportunity and I hope I prove my potential through it,” he says.

Calling the film a blessing after years of waiting, Sshrey adds, “It feels like a gift from the universe to me. I have waited so long for this, and the universe gave me the best. I am really grateful for it.”

As he steps into a new phase of his career, the actor says he isn't looking to restrict himself to any particular genre. His primary aim is to keep experimenting and show audiences different sides of his personality as an actor. “Honestly, I am an actor who wants to explore everything. Every role that can possibly be done, I want to do it. I want to show the world that there is nothing I can't do. One of my recent favourites is 10th Fail, and I would love to get a role like that at this stage of my career,” he shares.

When asked about his dream role, Sshrey admits that there isn't just one character on his wishlist. “I have many dream roles. From a complex character like Jon Snow from Game of Thrones to a king like Bajirao, from a simple boy like the one in 10th Fail to a spy like Dhurandhar, I want to explore everything. I would also love to do a massy role like KGF and play a heartbroken guy like in Musafir Cafe. There are so many shades I want to experience as an actor,” he concludes.
