Celina Jaitly, Ram Kamal Mukherjee reunite for biopic Sister Nibedita
Celina Vikram Jaitly reunites with director Ram Kamal Mukherjee for Sister Nibedita, a biopic on Swami Vivekananda's disciple. First look out July 4.
Celina Vikram Jaitly is stepping into one of the most demanding roles of her career. The actor will play Margaret Elizabeth Noble — better known as Sister Nibedita — in a new Hindi feature announced by National Award-winning filmmaker Ram Kamal Mukherjee. The film marks the pair's first collaboration in nearly four years, since Season's Greetings.
Titled Sister Nibedita, the biographical drama traces the life of the Irish-born disciple of Swami Vivekananda who gave up her home to serve India. It's produced by Aritra Das Creation in association with Assorted Motion Pictures.
Born in Ireland, Noble left everything familiar behind and made India her spiritual home. Her work spanned education, women's empowerment, social reform and the freedom-era push for a national awakening — a legacy the film wants to bring to a wider audience. The story follows her shift from a young Irish educator to a fierce advocate for India's cultural and spiritual life, set against a country in the middle of enormous change. Her bond with Swami Vivekananda sits at the heart of it.
