Kapil Sharma's ‘Zwigato’ Set for OTT Release on Amazon Prime Video This October

After making waves at international film festivals and receiving critical acclaim during its theatrical release in March 2023, Nandita Das’ Zwigato is finally set for an OTT debut. The much-anticipated film, starring popular comedian Kapil Sharma in a serious role, will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video starting October 25, 2024.

Produced by Applause Entertainment and Nandita Das Initiatives, Zwigato explores the life of a food delivery driver and his struggles in a gig economy. Kapil Sharma, known for his comedic persona, surprises the audience with his earnest portrayal of a man grappling with the harsh realities of his job. Shahana Goswami plays his supportive wife, adding emotional depth to the film. The supporting cast includes talented actors such as Gul Panag, Sayani Gupta, Swanand Kirkire, and Tushar Acharya.

Despite positive reviews from critics and audiences, Zwigato faced challenges finding a home on a digital platform after its theatrical run. The film, which had its global premiere at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival, garnered praise for its sensitive portrayal of modern working-class struggles. Shahana Goswami, expressing her relief over the OTT release, remarked, "I still have hopes. It’s never too late for something good to come out."
